*BUT
Psalms 69:13 - 69:20
13 But I pray to you, O LORD, in the time of your favor; in your great love, O God, answer me with your sure salvation.
14 Rescue me from the mire, do not let me sink; deliver me from those who hate me, from the deep waters.
15 Do not let the flood waters engulf me or the depths swallow me up or the pit close its mouth over me.
16 Answer me, O LORD, out of the goodness of your love; in your great mercy turn to me.
17 Do not hide your face from your servant; answer me quickly, for I am in trouble.
18 Come near and rescue me; redeem me because of my foes.
19 You know how I am scorned, disgraced and shamed; all my enemies are before you.
20 Scorn has broken my heart and has left me helpless; I looked for sympathy, but there was none, for comforters, but I found none.
¢Ê Reflection
These verses form an important transitional bridge in this psalm. In the preceding verses, the writer cries ¡°Save me, O God¡±-a plea for deliverance from his situation, which is dire. He then describes the hopelessness of his circumstances.
And then verse 13 begins with the word ¡°but.¡± And that is such a critical word, for no matter what the situation, how bleak or how hopeless, God himself can be found in that word ¡° but.¡± God is all about ¡°buts¡± God is all about changing the unchangeable circumstances, about making a way where there was no way. The road is crooked, but God can make it straight. The situation is hopeless, but God can break through. All the power of God in that tiny little word: but.
The psalmist knows this. He puts together some beautiful phrases here that illustrate the mysterious ¡°but¡± power of his God: ¡°Do not let the flood waters engulf me ... / Answer me, O LORD, out of the goodness of your love¡±(vv. 15-16).
The psalmist also knows that we humans have a responsibility to help the ¡°but¡± power of God be manifested. Hence the first word after ¡°but¡± is ¡°I¡±,followed by a verb: ¡°pray.¡± If the power of God is found in the ¡°but,¡± that power is made available to us through our own actions; in this case, fervent prayer. The writer prays and prays and prays because he knows that concentrating solely on God is going to save him from the time of disaster. It is his actions which will help lead him to deliverance.

* Examples Of Obedience
Although I have spoken to you, ... you did not obey Me. - Jeremiah 35:14
Have you ever met someone who had traits you thought should mark a Christian but then found that the person had never met the Savior? It's not all that unusual. Sometimes people who do not know Jesus keep their own moral standards more consistently than some Christians keep God's standards.
The prophet Jeremiah ran into a group like that-and he passed along to us a valuable lesson from observing them. They were a nomadic people called the Rechabites, and Jeremiah used them as an example of obedience. Although they were not among God's chosen people, God commended them for their obedience.
For example, their forefathers had taught them that they should not drink wine. So when Jeremiah offered it to them, they refused it (Jeremiah 35:5-6). He wanted to show the people of Judah what obedience looked like. God wanted the Jews to be as obedient to Him as the Rechabites were to their leaders.
Even today we see unsaved people follow the morals they've set, while some Christians are not being obedient to their Lord's commands. God hates our disobedience. Let it not be said of us that the "Rechabites" of our day are more obedient than we are. - JDB ´ç½ÅÀÌ
Consistency! How much we need
To walk a measured pace,
To live the life of which we speak,
Until we see Christ's face. - Anon
Obedience is faith in action.
Jeremiah 35:12-19
[12] Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying:
[13] "This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Go and tell the men of Judah and the people of Jerusalem, 'Will you not learn a lesson and obey my words?' declares the LORD.
[14] 'Jonadab son of Recab ordered his sons not to drink wine and this command has been kept. To this day they do not drink wine, because they obey their forefather's command. But I have spoken to you again and again, yet you have not obeyed me.
[15] Again and again I sent all my servants the prophets to you. They said, "Each of you must turn from your wicked ways and reform your actions; do not follow other gods to serve them. Then you will live in the land I have given to you and your fathers." But you have not paid attention or listened to me.
[16] The descendants of Jonadab son of Recab have carried out the command their forefather gave them, but these people have not obeyed me.'
[17] "Therefore, this is what the LORD God Almighty, the God of Israel, says: 'Listen! I am going to bring on Judah and on everyone living in Jerusalem every disaster I pronounced against them. I spoke to them, but they did not listen; I called to them, but they did not answer.'"
[18] Then Jeremiah said to the family of the Recabites, "This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: 'You have obeyed the command of your forefather Jonadab and have followed all his instructions and have done everything he ordered.'
[19] Therefore, this is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: 'Jonadab son of Recab will never fail to have a man to serve me.'"
* When It's Too Late ³Ê¹« ´Ê¾úÀ» ¶§
Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. - Isaiah 55:6
"³ÊÈñ´Â ¿©È£¿Í¸¦ ¸¸³¯ ¸¸ÇÑ ¶§¿¡ ãÀ¸¶ó °¡±îÀÌ °è½Ç ¶§¿¡ ±×¸¦ ºÎ¸£¶ó" - ÀÌ»ç¾ß 55:6
An insurance agent repeatedly tried to convince a man to buy fire coverage for his home. "No," the homeowner kept saying. "It's well built, and I maintain it properly. My house will never catch fire." But one day it did! Imagine the look on that insurance agent's face when the homeowner foolishly ran to him to buy an insurance policy-as smoke filled the sky and flames gutted his home. It was way too late!
Although this story seems too absurd to be true, it teaches the folly of presumption, and of putting off until tomorrow a decision that needs to be made today. This is especially important when it comes to escaping what Jesus described as "the fire that shall never be quenched" (Mark 9:43).
By paying for our sins on Calvary's cross, Jesus has provided the only way of escape from the judgment to come. But we must make an important decision before we can enjoy that salvation. We must accept the offer while it is still good-before death overtakes us.
So don't be foolish. Believe that Christ died and rose again to provide eternal life for you, and receive Him as your Savior today. Right now, while there is still time, accept God's free gift of salvation. - RWD

* Getting In Shape ¸ö¸ÅÀÇ À¯Áö
Bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things. - 1 Timothy 4:8
"À°Ã¼ÀÇ ¿¬½ÀÀº ¾à°£ÀÇ À¯ÀÍÀÌ ÀÖÀ¸³ª °æ°ÇÀº ¹ü»ç¿¡ À¯ÀÍÇϴ϶ó" - µð¸ðµ¥Àü¼ 4:8
Getting in shape can be dangerous. According to one report, the two most hazardous methods middle-age Americans use to stay in good condition are riding a bike and playing basketball. In one year, 201,000 people were hurt on their bikes and another 164,000 were sidelined with an injury they sustained on a basketball court.
Why do people risk injury to stay or to get physically fit? Because they see some benefit, like feeling better, maintaining the body structure they want, or living longer. They are willing to endure the sweat and tears it may take to get that heart pumping and those weak muscles working.
The Bible says bodily exercise profits us a little, but it also says our greater responsibility is to exercise spiritually (1 Timothy 4:8). Do we have the same determination as those bikers and hoopsters who are risking pain and injury to get in shape?
The real danger comes when we don't get in shape spiritually. Unless we experience some gain in our relationship with the Lord, we'll know the pain of broken fellowship and lack of spiritual effectiveness.

1 Timothy 4:4-16
[4] For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,
[5] because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.
[6] If you point these things out to the brothers, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, brought up in the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed.
[7] Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, train yourself to be godly.
[8] For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.
[9] This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance
[10] (and for this we labor and strive), that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe.
[11] Command and teach these things.
[12] Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.
[13] Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching.
[14] Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you.
[15] Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress.
[16] Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.
